Terms & Conditions
Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern your access to Six Degrees, including the public graph, sign-in flows, profile tools, invite workflows, and any member, admin, analytics, advertising, partnership, or data-related features we make available now or later.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Six Degrees, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These terms apply to public visitors, signed-in members, invite recipients, group admins, super admins, and anyone who submits, imports, approves, or references information through the service.
2. Description of the Service
Six Degrees is a public social connection map that helps people explore how individuals and groups connect across a shared community. The service may include public graph browsing, profile management, request workflows, invitation flows, analytics, graph-derived relationship scoring, predictive social proximity features, sponsorship or partnership features, and administrative tools.
We may change, improve, suspend, remove, monetize, or reorganize any feature at any time without guaranteeing continued availability of a specific workflow, dataset, interface, or business model.
3. Eligibility and Account Access
Public graph browsing may be available without signing in. Write access and administrative features are restricted to eligible accounts, which may include verified Google .edu accounts and any accounts we explicitly allowlist.
You are responsible for maintaining control of the account you use to access Six Degrees and for all actions taken through that account.
- Use accurate account information and only sign in as yourself.
- Do not share your session, impersonate another person, or try to bypass access controls.
- You must sign in with the exact invited email address when responding to invite-based workflows.
4. Public Graph and Profile Visibility
Six Degrees is designed around public visibility. Information associated with the graph may be visible to the public, including names, group affiliations, relationship paths, profile details, social links, and other content made available through the service.
If you submit or approve information for publication on Six Degrees, you acknowledge that the content may be displayed publicly and may be viewed, indexed, copied, referenced, discussed, or republished by others outside our control.
6. License to Six Degrees
As between you and Six Degrees, you retain any rights you own in content and information you submit, post, upload, import, approve for publication, or otherwise make available through the service.
You grant Six Degrees and its operators, affiliates, successors, assigns, service providers, contractors, partners, acquirers, licensees, and sublicensees a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, create derivative works from, analyze, combine with other information, and otherwise use your submissions for operating, improving, securing, promoting, advertising, analyzing, licensing, and commercializing the service and related products, services, datasets, insights, graph-derived relationship-strength scores, social proximity signals, affinity rankings, predictive connection models, and business opportunities, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
You also authorize us to use your name, likeness, profile details, group affiliations, relationship information, and other submitted materials in connection with the same purposes to the extent you make them available through the service or authorize us to publish them. As between you and Six Degrees, our methodologies, models, scoring logic, weights, features, rankings, and other derived analytics remain our property or the property of our licensors.
- This license survives account closure, content removal, and termination to the extent necessary to preserve public postings, backups, audit trails, legal compliance, derived materials, and prior authorized uses.
- Unless we separately agree otherwise in writing, you are not entitled to compensation for submissions, feedback, suggestions, or other materials you provide through Six Degrees.
- Any feedback, ideas, or feature suggestions you provide may be used by us without restriction or obligation.
7. Data Processing and Commercial Use
You understand that information processed through Six Degrees may be used, disclosed, licensed, transferred, monetized, or otherwise commercially exploited as described in our Privacy Policy, including in connection with analytics, graph-derived relationship-strength scoring, social proximity or affinity modeling, partnerships, sponsorships, research, advertising, business development, and corporate transactions, subject to applicable law.
If you do not want information processed under those terms, do not submit it and do not use features that make it available through the service.
8. Acceptable Use
You may use Six Degrees only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not interfere with the service, its users, or its operators.
- No unauthorized scraping, bulk extraction, reverse engineering, or automated abuse of the service.
- No attempts to gain unauthorized access to accounts, admin tools, tokens, cookies, or backend systems.
- No upload or transmission of malware, malicious code, or disruptive content.
- No activity that infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
- No use of the service to stalk, harass, discriminate against, threaten, or unlawfully profile others.
9. Intellectual Property and Limited License
Six Degrees and its branding, interface, software, text, design elements, compilations, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the service for its intended purposes, subject to these terms. This license does not permit resale, republication, derivative commercial use, or copying of protected site materials except as allowed by law or by our written permission.
10. Emails, Notices, and Communications
By using workflows that rely on invites, requests, approvals, account notifications, marketing signups, sponsorship interactions, or privacy requests, you agree that Six Degrees may send transactional, operational, legal, and where permitted promotional communications related to the platform and its business.
Operational messages may include invite links, request updates, admin notices, security alerts, privacy notices, policy updates, and other communications needed to operate or protect the service.
11. Suspension, Termination, and Business Transfer
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to Six Degrees at any time if we believe you violated these terms, created risk for the service or its users, or used the platform in a way that is unlawful, abusive, or technically harmful.
We may also remove, correct, decline to publish, archive, transfer, or continue using submitted information when operationally, contractually, or legally necessary, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, asset sale, or similar transaction.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
Six Degrees is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability.
We do not guarantee that the graph, profile data, relationship paths, administrative outcomes, analytics, partnership features, or business results will always be complete, current, accurate, or error-free.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Six Degrees and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, goodwill, data, business opportunities, or reputational harm arising out of or related to your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to Six Degrees will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100) or the amount you paid us, if any, to use the service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Six Degrees and its operators from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to your use of the service, your submissions, your violation of these terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
15. Governing Law and Venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to Six Degrees or these terms must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above.
Your continued use of Six Degrees after updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms, except to the extent additional notice or consent is required by applicable law for a materially different use of personal information.
